Our Flower Encyclopedia documents every commercially grown cut flower — seasonality by hemisphere, vase life, conditioning, colour range, price tier, and ranked substitutes — plus a directory of the farms and countries that grow them. It is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence: you are free to quote, cite and reference it in articles, journalism, classrooms and research, with attribution and a link back. Story angles & data we can share
Working on a piece? We’re happy to provide data, custom charts and an expert quote. A few angles our dataset supports:

Wedding flowers by month
Which wedding flowers are in season for each month — July has nearly four times the in-season choice of January. A planning story for wedding and lifestyle desks. See the data & download the CSV →
Which cut flowers last longest — and why price doesn’t buy days
Vase life in days for 250 cut flowers, longest to shortest: premium flowers are the most short-lived group, budget flowers outlast them. A consumer-advice story for lifestyle, home and money desks. See the data & download the CSV →
The cheapest months to buy flowers
Price-by-season data across 250+ varieties — when each flower peaks and is affordable, and when out-of-season imports run 3–4× the price. A practical, number-driven story for wedding, lifestyle and money desks. See the live index & download the data →
Where the world’s cut flowers actually grow
The origin map behind your bouquet — Kenya, Ecuador, Colombia, Ethiopia, the Netherlands — with the logistics and footprint of the global flower trade. For geography, food-system and sustainability desks.
